1986 Istanbul, Fatih-Sultan-Mehmet-Bridge
In 1986 Calenberg Ingenieure accomplished a further pioneering achievement. The longest suspension bridge of Europe was built with the incremental launching technique. Here the complete bridge superstructure was constructed in sections in a concreting facility behind the abutment.
After completion of a bridge section this section was pushed together with the previously constructed sections over the bridge piers on steel-reinforced Calenberg Perforated Sliding Bearings such that the next incremental section could be built. The sliding bearings had to perform a total of 1,500 m translational movement.
