2008 Papenburg, Meyer Werft

There has been a Meyer Werft shipyard on the Ems in Papenburg since 1795. Dry Dock II is currently the largest dry dock construction facility in the world. The Quantum of the Seas, at 167,800 gross tonnage and with rooms for 4180 guests, was built here in 2014.

Calenberg Ingenieure designs, manufactures and markets elastomeric sliding bearings, and statically or dynamically loaded structural bearings (elastomeric bearings) for buildings and structures, sub-ballast mats and trackbed mats for track construction as well as other elastomer-based products for noise insulation and environmental protection.

This impressive maritime structure with long-spanning decks relies on bi-Trapez Bearings from Calenberg. The bearings ensure loads are centralised as the designer intended when transferred to the adjoining components, and accommodate any unevenness and deck deflections.

Shear deformations and relative movements of up to 4 mm, which can occur as concrete cures or due to wind loads, are accommodated by the 10 mm thick bi-Trapez Bearings.
