Air extraction units BVG Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe

Considerable noise emissions from four air extraction units in an underground railway workshop operated by BVG Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe were proving a source of distraction. These were to be insulated but full access to the units had to be available when required.

Calenberg Ingenieure designs, manufactures and markets elastomeric sliding bearings, and statically or dynamically loaded structural bearings (elastomeric bearings) for buildings and structures, sub-ballast mats and trackbed mats for track construction as well as other elastomer-based products for noise insulation and environmental protection.

The excellent insulating properties and negligible weight of Cisilent type E makes the material ideal for this task. Calenberg Ingenieure supplied BVG with U-shaped noise insulation housings mounted on rollers.

These mobile housings allowed the air extraction units, which were positioned at the walls, to be isolated from their surroundings and the noise load considerably reduced.

The workshop staff can now go about their work undistracted by noise. The rollers and the negligible weight of Cisilent allow the housings to be completely removed with very little effort.
