First application of profiled track mats. Only moderately effective granulated rubber mats have been used so far. Water, however, impaired their function and the service life was short. At the same time several projects for the Berlin underground started.

Calenberg Ingenieure designs, manufactures and markets elastomeric sliding bearings, and statically or dynamically loaded structural bearings (elastomeric bearings) for buildings and structures, sub-ballast mats and trackbed mats for track construction as well as other elastomer-based products for noise insulation and environmental protection.

The successful performance of Calenberg track mats could impressively be shown 30 years after installation. Prof. Stühler of Berlin Technical University has published a paper to this effect (this can be obtained from Calenberg Ingenieure).

Further checks were carried out without prior "manipulation" of the line (e.g. track alignment correction, rail grinding, etc.) and without special treatment of the mats in the laboratory.

This is exactly how it is intended as it is the aim and purpose of a structure-borne noise insulation to perform satisfactorily despite changing conditions and natural aging of the lines. Calenberg products comply with all these requirements.
