2004 Busan, Korea, Pujeon Tunnel

In 2004 2500 sqm of Calenberg USM 2030 ballast mat were installed in a tunnel of the Pujun line (Pujun-Sasang) in the Korean coastal city of Busan, to protect nearby residents from the rail traffic.

Calenberg Ingenieure designs, manufactures and markets elastomeric sliding bearings, and statically or dynamically loaded structural bearings (elastomeric bearings) for buildings and structures, sub-ballast mats and trackbed mats for track construction as well as other elastomer-based products for noise insulation and environmental protection.

The ballasted track is used by freight trains running at 70 km/h and by passenger trains with speeds between 80km/h and 150km/h. The maximum axle load of the heaviest rail vehicles is 25 tons.

The Calenberg ballast mats have been successfully installed and to date show excellent results in terms of effectively reducing the transmission of annoying structure-borne sound and vibrations into the nearby neighbourhood.
